Strategy For My Fourth Album Release

This, my fourth album entitled Relevant Christian Song Sketches, is an instrumental—no lyrics; expect it on major streamers by August 2025. I keep the title from my previous three albums which were lyrics-driven, simply to draw listeners from this album to those.

This album is for honoring and pleasing my wife. For decades she’s supported my guitar playing and tolerated all that goes with it, from purchases (another: guitar, FX, computer program, amp, P.A., book…), to sacrificing her time (turning pages at a wedding gigue, making our home available for my guitar teaching studio, going with me to a print-shop…), to graciously listening to my practicing and offering helpful feedback. For this album, then, NO distortion or phaser! I want her to enjoy my playing to her reading, praying, and resting; anyone else’s appreciation for the album is only a bonus.

This is my first solo guitar album. Previously, I’ve posted dozens of solo fingerstyle and classical guitar pieces to my YouTube channel for brides to select from, for me to perform at their weddings. The Layout page specifies my songwriting action-plan/exercise in five columns. Roman Catholic themes inspire the titles. I list the guitars, effects, modes, and song sections implemented (only guitarists and songwriters will appreciate this list). I use my Guitar Chord Drills and Songwriting Worksheet for the last two categories of this list. The FX column consists of: Berlin Symphony (Stings, Woodwinds, Brass), Ace Studio AI singers, Native Instruments (with the Komplete midi DAW controller), GarageBand samples and drummers, and Spitfire LABS. My guitar playing lays down the harmonic structure, with improvising; the FX tools merely provide color, texture. Here’s this layout, as a spreadsheet document attachment:

I discuss this post, concerning the interrelationship of spirit and matter, soul and body, the institutional Church and the Holy Spirit, and inspiration and structure in music composition, in a recent podcast post.

Here’s my vision, then–hope to have the album ready before my wife completes her pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe, near Mexico City. Hoping she loves it!
